About me

I am a fifth generation block printing artisan and designer from Sanganer, a famous printing hub in Jaipur, Rajasthan. I attended the Indian Institute of Craft and Design in Jaipur (IICD) from 2009 to 2012. i won the the gold medal for Academic Excellence(2009-2012). During my studies, I focused on textile product design, culminating in a final year project working with the City Palace Museum of Jaipur. Here, I created a collection of prints and garments inspired by regional architecture. I am currently the Creative Director of AK Group and working in own band “Awdhesh Kumar”, which deal in exporting, wholesaling, and retailing of block printed textiles. I am passionate about the block printing industry and it is my main goal to sustain the ancient craft while at the same time giving new direction and innovation to the prints and designs. Right now working with 30 different hand block printers in sanganer and weaving artisan in Bikaner rajasthan in cotton handloom and Bhagalpur in linen handloom.
