Fungus is a separate kingdom of living things different from plants and animals. They maintain a symbiotic relationship with various plant roots by providing increased water and nutrient absorption capabilities while the plants provide it with carbohydrates formed during photosynthesis. They are also known as the best recyclers because of their ability to decompose. There are a lot of things about fungi to be inspired by. The lines, the textures, the shapes, the colours of these mushrooms are truly a rare and captivating phenomenon and have always had me intrigued. My concept revolves around the recreation of these visual aspects using the handloom fabric of Yemmiganur, India which is also rare and not many people are aware of. The garments are made out of towel, lungi (an Indian drape) and bandage fabrics which are handwoven using 100% cotton yarns and are very long-lasting. This is a sustainable collection which is very durable (the quality of the fabric is good enough to last for years) and consists of handwoven fabrics turned into classic silhouettes. Bold, confident and strong women with good reach and influence can flaunt this pret resort wear collection and help raise awareness about sustainable fashion especially during these times and help these crafts and artisans survive. This look consists of a cape and a full length princess panelled dress.
