Part it, your way! is a contemporary interpretation of traditional jali. Each module is hand cast in P.O.P molds. This technique allows the module to be hollow from inside and reduce the self-weight. These are made using Ceramic clay and can be glazed to desired colors. The tapering surface of the module was a reinterpretation of a very prime characteristic of Jali's, which is the funnel effect generated by the cross-section. The three varied diamond openings were an inspiration taken from the opened-up dyed Bandhani knots of Rajasthan and Gujarat, the context this product was designed for.
It caters to natural ventilation and allows filtered light.
Responding to the context this can also be made in Terracota. The hollow blocks in-turn add up to become a cavity wall. Thus one module multiplies to form a room divider and further multiplies to form a cavity wall if used on the exterior facade.
