The collection of durries is for the interior and home environment. These days, we are spending so much time indoors due to the pandemic and work from home situation. This is leading to a new relationship we have with the products we surround ourselves with. Handwoven durries are the perfect way to add colour and character in any home or work-from-home setting. By choosing these durries, we are not only supporting the craft technique, but also promoting and preserving the Indian culture and traditions, and supporting the artisans and weavers associated with it. This will promote the social and cultural sustainability of the Indian Craft Sector.
A collection of hand-woven durries inspired by the local surroundings of Beawar Khas. One of the objectives of this project was design intervention in the craft cluster. While working in a craft cluster it is crucial to keep in mind the skill level and the available resources in the cluster. To bring about any change, it has to come gradually, one step at a time, so that the artisans can adapt to it better. It's not only about making new designs, but it is also about connecting those designs with the weavers, to help them relate to the design and the learning process.
