Traditional Water Reed Weaving & Craftsmanship
This portfolio showcases the traditional weaving process practised by skilled artisans in Northeast India using water reed, a natural and sustainable material found in Assam. Through skilled hand-weaving techniques, artisans transform the raw material into beautifully crafted products with distinctive patterns and functional designs. The images capture different stages of the craft, from preparing and weaving the reeds to shaping the final products. Weave India works with artisan communities to strengthen traditional craftsmanship, provide design training and create better livelihood opportunities while promoting eco-friendly alternatives to synthetic and non-biodegradable materials.
