Valay Gada

Cobalt Designs was founded in 2012 by the artist/designer, Valay Gada. His double graduate degree is from N.I.F.T in Fashion Lifestyle & Accessories Design (2008) after completing English Literature (Mumbai university). He honed his craft as a product designer with leading designer brands, Michael Aram and Viya Home. Cobalt Designs is inspired by a classical tradition seeking to preserve the very best of Indian culture in terms of both artisanal tradition and fine craftsmanship blending this with the best of contemporary design. We believe that our products should perform the functions they are meant to, but at the same time to be quirky to make one smile and be aesthetically appealing. Product range spanning exclusive sculptures, lighting, furniture, table top accessories, bath , landscaping accents etc. The studio has mainly worked with metal craftsmen in and around Delhi NCR as well as craftswomen from Bihar that specialise in Sikki grass craft (a project initiated by Asian Heritage Foundation & the World Bank). We have shown internationally at galleries/fairs in London, Frankfurt and recently at Manchester Art Gallery. Our collectors include Manchester Art Gallery where our works were part of a year long design show titled 'South Asian Design' that concluded recently in June 2018.
