Saloni Pandey

I’m Saloni, a 7th-generation block printing artisan from Sanganer, Jaipur. Block printing has been in my family for generations and I grew up surrounded by this craft, watching fabrics being hand-printed with precision and care. My father, Mr. Ram Tilak Pandey, started Salone, and now I joined salone to carry forward it in my own way. Before fully stepping into Salone, I pursued my studies in Soft Material Design at IICD to understand more about the Indian crafts and I worked with Italian designer Modesti, where I learned how block printing could be used in the international luxury market. That experience gave me a new perspective, it showed me that this craft has endless possibilities beyond what we’ve known for centuries. At Salone, we create classic block-printed fabrics while constantly exploring and experimenting with designs, techniques, and applications. My goal is to make Salone a well-recognized name, known not just for its heritage but also for its creativity and craftsmanship. For me, block printing is more than just a skill. It’s a legacy that I’m proud to carry forward, a way of life, and something deeply personal. Through Salone, I hope to share this craft with the world in a way that feels fresh, meaningful, and true to its roots.
